What we keep, and why.
Last revised June 1, 2026
Inklede is a small publication, and this policy is written the way we would explain it across a desk. We keep the minimum needed to deliver your edition and to judge whether the paper is any good. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with anyone.
What we store
When you subscribe, we record:
- Your email address, and your name if you choose to give it.
- Your reading preferences: the subjects you selected and the weight you gave each one.
- The date you signed up, where the signup came from (for example, the front page), and the IP address seen at signup, kept for abuse prevention.
- Delivery records for each edition email we send you, including whether a send succeeded or bounced.
- Open and click events on edition emails, recorded with a timestamp and basic technical details such as IP address and browser identification. We use these solely to measure product quality: which stories were read, which editions worked, and whether you still want to hear from us.
- Your thumbs up or down on an edition, if you give it, so we can tell which weeks landed and shape the next one.
How the measurement works
Edition emails contain a small invisible image that tells us the email was opened, and links in the email pass through our server before continuing to the original article. If you block remote images in your email client, the open measurement simply does not happen and your edition is unaffected.
If you stop opening editions for a long stretch, we may send a single note asking whether you want to keep receiving them, and eventually pause your subscription rather than keep mailing into the void.
Cookies
The public website sets no cookies and runs no third-party analytics or advertising scripts. The staff area uses browser storage to keep editors signed in, which touches readers not at all.
Who can see your data
The small team that runs Inklede, and the infrastructure providers who host the service and relay email on our behalf. Those providers process data only to deliver the service. No one else, unless the law compels us, in which case we will tell you if we are permitted to.
How long we keep it
As long as you are subscribed, plus a short period afterward. When you unsubscribe we keep your address on a suppression list so we never mail you by accident. If you want a complete deletion, including the suppression entry and your engagement history, write to privacy@inklede.com and we will erase everything within thirty days.
Your choices
You can change your subjects and weights at any time from the preferences link in every edition. You can leave with the one-click unsubscribe link in every email, no questions asked. You can ask us at privacy@inklede.com for a copy of what we hold about you, a correction, or a full deletion.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in any way that matters, we will say so plainly in an edition email before the change takes effect, and the revision date above will be updated. Questions belong at privacy@inklede.com, and our terms cover the rest of the arrangement.
